Ryan R. Gaffney D.O. is a native of Freeland, Pennsylvania and a graduate of Hazleton Area High School. He received his undergraduate study in Neuroscience and Biology at King's College in Wilkes-Barre, PA and then attended medical school at Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in Iowa. He moved back to Pennsylvania for his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. He served as Chief Fellow in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2015-2016.
Dr Gaffney joined Chambersburg Gastroenterology Associate in July 2016. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and on staff at the Chambersburg Hospital and the Chambersburg Endoscopy Center. His special interest include GERD, obscure GI bleeding, and chronic liver disease.
His memberships include the American Osteopathic Association, American College of Physicians, Pennsylvania Society of Gastroenterology, and the American College of Gastroenterology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Gaffney enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music and attending live concerts, going to the movies, playing with his dog Gizmo, and learning to play piano.
