M. Farooq Khokhar, M.D. is a graduate of Quaid-e-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, Pakistan. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training at Georgetown University Medical Center/Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Washington D.C. He followed this training with a Liver Diseases Fellowship at National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland. Dr Khokhar subsequently completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine, New Haven, Connecticut.
Dr. Khokhar is Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Gastroenterology.
Dr. Khokhar joined Chambersburg Gastroenterology Associates in November 2002. He is on staff at Chambersburg Hospital and Chambersburg Endoscopy Center. In addition to practicing Gastroenterology, he has a special interest in liver diseases including chronic Hepatitis B and C virus infections and has been involved in clinical research.
Dr Khokhar is also involved in quality improvement and policy making in health care. He has a Masters in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is currently serving as a vice chair for the Ethics Committee at Chambersburg Hospital. He is a member of the Library & Education Committee and Performance Improvement Council at Chambersburg Hospital. Additionally, he is a member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the Health and Public Policy Council of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Khokhar is a member of several societies including American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterology Association, and American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
Dr. Khokhar lives in Chambersburg with his wife and four daughters. In his leisure time he enjoys reading books and playing golf.
